The Guiding Hand Social Club
Socialites and night owls throughout the known systems of Eve, always
hungry for entertainment, flock by the millions to popular hub worlds
such as Sovicou, Gallente Prime and New Caldari in search of the next
big sound. Caldari techno-industrial, Gallentean psi-harmonic trance,
even the savage tribal beats of Thukker jungle is broadcast through the
air by massive sky-scraping mega-speaker spires. Planet-side, entire
islands are converted into entertainment super-complexes crammed to the
breaking point with nightclubs, rave halls, watering holes and fetish
houses meant to cater to every imaginable taste in nightlife. Liquor and
drugs flow freely here, plied by daring merchants of vice and largely
unregulated by any authorities - as such, it is no surprise that the
jet-setting club connoisseur chooses these locales to while away his
weekends in narcotic quarter-time bliss.
On the fringes of civilization however, such excesses are a rare find -
here on the ill-defined borders of empire space, where survival is a
hand-to-mouth affair and resources are stretched thin, few people’s
minds dwell on wanton indulgence. Decidedly out of place nestled between
two ore cracking depots, the sight of a raucous illuminated nightclub
contrasts jarringly with the theme of rust and grime so intrinsic to a
desolate Caldari mining outpost.
Purchased and founded recently by the enigmatic Caldari power broker
Istvaan Shogaatsu, the Guiding Hand Social Club is an escapist’s
paradise, an island of refined ecstatic debauchery in a sea of toil and
frontier industry. Formerly a chapel and pilgrimage site belonging to
the Sisters of Eve, the nightclub retains much of its original
architecture, which would lend the large dance hall a palpable
ecclesiastic atmosphere were it not for the lasers and advanced
holograms. The hostile buyout method used by the founder and his brother
to acquire the locale earned them both considerable ire from the
Sisterhood, who still consider the conversion of their chapel to a house
of ill repute as the gravest of blasphemies and corruptions. While
often wild enough to drown out the noise of the industrial workshops
surrounding it, the nightclub offers a sophisticated atmosphere rarely
encountered even on the core worlds.
Currently operated by the founder’s brother, Tetsuo Shogaatsu, the
Guiding Hand serves another lesser-known purpose besides giving
fun-starved rock peckers a place to cut loose. Pushing through the
drug-maddened capacity crowd brings one to an unremarkable brushed steel
door toward the rear of the club, where few are permitted to tread -
behind this door, it is rumoured that the fates of corporations are
plotted and written upon the whims of a select cadre of powerful men and
women. These card-carrying members of the Guiding Hand Social Club can
often be found as patrons of the establishment, whether merely
navigating the throng of bodies to sequester themselves away in their
private lounge, or loosening their ties, lighting expensive cigars, and
immersing themselves fully in the festivities.
Spurred by frequent protests on behalf of the Sisters of Eve, local
CONCORD authorities have in recent times began paying closer attention
to the regular patrons of the Guiding Hand. While no proof has been
procured, the outraged Sisterhood fervently claims that a terrorist
mercenary outfit operates out of the nightclub, peddling not only
contraband and narcotics, but murder for hire - even though no concrete
link has yet been made between the Guiding Hand’s owners and various
potential clients surveilled to pass through its doors, area law
enforcement agencies are not about to allow a potentially destabilizing
criminal element to thrive.
The Guiding Hand Social Club is located in the main concourse of the
Hyasyoda Corporation mining outpost orbiting the fifth planet of
Wirashoda system, overlooking the magnificent Solari Constructs
treasured by the Sisters of Eve as one of the nine wonders of our
galaxy. Cover charge is fifteen kred. Dress code strictly enforced -
dress for success.
